We are now accepting manuscripts for our 21st Annual Award Winning One-Act

Playwright/Director's Workshop

Submission Deadline: April 16th, 2012

 Manuscripts accepted for:

·                  One-Act plays

·                  No more than 25 minutes in length

·                  Minimal staging and sets

·                  Casts of 5 or less preferred

·                  Play must be previously unpublished*

 Submission Guidelines:

·                  Submit manuscript by e-mail or snail-mail, to addresses below.

·                  $20 submission fee for each e-mailed play, $15 submission fee for each snail-mailed play

·                  Send check payable to HTM Players, to the P.O. Box shown below.  Include Author and Title on the check. Plays will NOT be considered until the check is received.

·                  Include a title page with the following information: Name, Address, Phone number, E-mail Address, Approx. length of play (in minutes). Please include title and page number on every page.

·                  DO NOT put author’s name on any page other than title page. The plays will be read anonymously.

Manuscripts will NOT be returned and critiques will not be given on those plays not chosen for the workshop. Each playwright will receive free admission to a performance.  Selected plays will be performed August 24-26, 2012 in Montrose, NY. Up to 5 plays will be performed.

Adjudication: A representative from the Theatre Association of New York State (TANYS) will adjudicate the last performance. Feedback will be given to the playwrights, directors, actors, and the individual productions. Audience members will also participate with anonymous comment sheets. One play may be selected to perform at the TANYS Festival in November, 2012.  www.tanys.org

The Hand-to-Mouth Players of Westchester County in New York recreate A Christmas Carol…enjoy!

Enjoy the serenity of a living nativity at this outside family event. Witness the warmth and peace of the nativity scene, narrated by Kacey Morabito Grean, as it unfolds with actors pantomiming the Christmas Story to carols sung by Hand-to-Mouth Players. For the second year, three llamas will be lead in by the kings. This was made possible by the generosity of the Bennett family and Hudson Valley Llamas. Sunday evening will also feature Jonathan Kruk, Storyteller. He will use varied voices, creative dramatics, and language of the senses to share stories of the true meaning of Christmas. Free Hot Cocoa and Cookies will be served.

Five original one-act plays will be presented and the final performance will be adjudicated by a representative from The Theater Association of New York State (TANYS).  The plays run the gamut from comedy to drama to absurd comedy and were written by three local authors (Stewart Hanges, Joy Rose and Jeffery Virgo) as well as two from California (Michael Wolfson and Karen Hartline) and were selected from plays submitted from all over the country.  The entire production is under the artistic direction of Anne Rodgers Pearl and Gary Simon.

Featuring Janis Chapin, Connie Dyckman, Jan Dyckman, Elaine Hartel, Jay Krass, Brian McCallum, Grace Miranda, Kathleen Muldoon, Christine Orchid, Bruce Pearl, Olivia Rerek, Steve Schnapper, Gary Simon, and Jeff Virgo.
